F‌ive programs at the Houston Community College (HCC) Business Center of Excellence have been awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Associate Degree Board of Commissioners. The programs are Accounting, Business Administration, Business Technology, International Business, and Marketing.

HCC is one of only three community colleges in Texas and the only community college in the Gulf Coast Region to have this accreditation.

Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business programs offered at HCC meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

“Houston Community College has shown commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale, who will present the Certificate of Initial Accreditation at ACBSP Conference 2016 in Atlanta, GA., on June 19. “This accreditation is evidence that Houston Community College is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students.”

Based on the criteria of the National Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of the institutional leadership, strategic planning processes, relationships with the community, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials and services, and educational support to determine whether or not the institution offers a rigorous educational experience and demonstrates continuous quality improvement.

“Achieving this prestigious accreditation is a reflection of our amazing business faculty as well as the exemplary teaching and learning that occurs every day at the HCC Business Center of Excellence,” said Dr. Jesus Roberto Rodriguez, dean, HCC Business Center of Excellence.
