HCC holds ceremonial beam signing at Stafford Campus

Aug 6, 2015

Armed with Sharpies and a feeling of excitement, Houston Community College administrators and staff joined the construction crew and project managers for a ceremonial beam signing at the site of the new Workforce Training Center on the Stafford Campus.

The 57,000 square-foot, energy efficient facility, will house advanced manufacturing and robotics classes as well as laboratories for welding and pipefitting. This training center, which is expected to be LEED Silver certified, will meet the industry need for skilled workers.

Once the building is complete, the thin steel plate with the signatures will be placed in the front hall above the tile in the ceiling.

The facility is set to open in spring 2016. It is one of 14 projects under the $425 million HCC Groundbreaker Bond Program. You can see the progress of all facilities under construction by visiting hccs.edu/bond.
