The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at Houston Community College has been selected as the Community Partner of the Year by the City of Houston.

HCC, in partnership with Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, helps small businesses in the Houston region create jobs and economic growth by providing entrepreneurs with a practical business education, access to capital and business support services.

The City of Houston chose Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses to receive the “Champions of Diversity” Award for showing commitment, excellence and support of the Office of Business Opportunity’s mission.

“The impact of the program in the community is very rewarding as we watch the alumni of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses identify new opportunities for growth, engage with other small businesses and continue building a strong small business economy for the Houston region,” said Catherine Landry, executive director.

Since the 10,000 Small Businesses Program at HCC started in 2011, alumni have been awarded over $25 million in contracts with the City of Houston.

Goldman Sachs representatives, along with staff members of the program and several alumni business owners, will participate in the award ceremony on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
