Helpful Tips:

  • If you experienced a qualifying life event, such as losing your job or inability to keep your parent/employer’s insurance coverage, you may qualify for a special enrollment circumstance within 30 days and could be eligible for a plan through the Healthcare Marketplace. Visit www.healthcare.gov to learn more about your healthcare options.
  • If your income or household changed and you have coverage through the Marketplace, update the information online or call 1 (800) 318-2596 to get instructions on how to adjust your plan. By doing this, you may save money or even become eligible for free health insurance through Medicaid.
  • If you are undocumented or are waiting for your healthcare plan coverage’s approval, contact a local health community center to receive care.

In addition, many community clinics may also perform free, basic eye exams for the uninsured or families living in poverty. Some clinics may also have glasses and other equipment. Covid-19 Resources

If you or someone you know needs healthcare services related to COVID-19, follow these steps:

  • Contact your physician to outline symptoms and discuss the next steps. Testing can only occur with a physician referral at this point.
  • If you do not have a physician, call 211 to be referred to a community clinic or other resource that can help.
  • CDC Quarantine Guidelines: CDC updated their quarantine requirements: Previously, those in quarantine had to go 48 hours without a fever and without using fever-reducing medication. Now, patients have to go fever-free for 72 hours without fever-reducing medication. This applies to those currently under quarantine and those who may be quarantined in the future. In addition, before leaving isolation, a patient's other symptoms — including shortness of breath or a cough — must have improved and at least seven days must have passed from when the symptoms first appeared.
