Proctoring Services

HCC faculty have two online proctoring options to ensure the integrity of the assessment process and to prevent acts of academic dishonesty.  The faculty member will communicate their proctoring requirements, examination schedule, and other pertinent information via the course syllabus. 

HCC provides unlimited access to Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor, free-of-charge to students.  Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor are an ideal proctoring solution for most assessments, such as quizzes and examinations.  To learn more about Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor visit https://web.respondus.com/he/lockdownbrowser/ and https://web.respondus.com/he/monitor/. 

For high-stakes assessments, such as midterm and final examinations that require additional security and assurances, faculty have access to ProctorU Live+.  Students schedule ProctorU exams in advance and are charged on average approximately $15.00 per examination hour.  Due to the costs associated with this platform, ProctorU usage should be limited to two exams per course, to minimize the financial impact to our students.  To learn more about ProctorU Live+ visit https://www.proctoru.com/services/live-online-proctoring. 

Both of these platforms require a computer, webcam, microphone, speakers, and a minimum Internet connection, here are the minimum and recommended specifications:

During the COVID19 crisis, HCC will not be offering face-to-face proctoring services.  HCC faculty will use one of our online proctoring options to ensure the integrity of the assessment process and to prevent acts of academic dishonesty.  The faculty member will communicate their proctoring requirements, examination schedule, and other pertinent information via the course syllabus. 

During the COVID19 crisis, HCC will not be offering out-of-area proctoring services.  HCC faculty will use one of our online proctoring options to ensure the integrity of the assessment process and to prevent acts of academic dishonesty.  The faculty member will communicate their proctoring requirements, examination schedule, and other pertinent information via the course syllabus.
