HCC Libraries awarded grant funds to enhance Fashion Archive

Houston Community College Libraries recently received grant funds to add a brand-new Textiles collection to the Fashion Archive as well as digitized racks of garments donated by award-winning Houston born designer Cesar Galindo.

This is the third grant awarded by the Institute of Museums and Library Services and Texas State Libraries and Archives to HCC Libraries in support of this initiative.

"Expanding the collection will provide students as well as the general public with an opportunity to see and study vintage and contemporary costumes as well as explore social aspects of dress & culture from the past all the way to the present," said Erica Hubbard, creator of the Digital Fashion Archive at HCC.

The grant period is for one year starting September 1, 2021 and the digital collection is currently housed at https://hccfashion.omeka.net/
