Members of HCC Society of Hispanic Engineers attend national conference in Phoenix

HCC Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) chapter president Daniel Velazquez, chapter vice president Eduardo Moya and chapter adviser Professor June Keller attended the SHPE National Institute for Leadership Advancement 2019 in Phoenix, Ariz., July 31-Aug. 4.

For more than 30 years this annual conference has equipped regional and chapter SHPE leaders with the skills and knowledge for success with practical, easy-to-apply strategies.  Velazquez, Moya and Keller are now Certified Chapter Leaders that allows HCC SHPE chapter to remain a certified chapter.

The conference each year features the LeaderSHPE Challenge that randomly divides students into teams of up to six to solve a problem within a limited time.This year’s challenge problems were based on the 14 Grand Challenges of Engineering. Moya was a member of the overall winning team and was awarded free registration to National Convention 2019.

HCC SHPE was recognized as Region V up-and-coming chapter in March and has grand plans for 2019-20.
