Houston Community College Northeast Center for Career & Job Placement Services hosted a career and hiring event in collaboration with the Automotive Center of Excellence on October 10, at the HCC Automotive Technology Training Center.  Several industry partners including CarMax, Automotive Service Association (ASA), Penske Truck Leasing and Group 1 Automotive were all on site to engage with HCC students, provide information on various career options and offer, part-time, full-time and internship opportunities. With resumes in hand, students were able to hone their interview skills and explore career options.

In addition to hands-on learning in a shop setting, automotive students have access to a variety of support services that help to prepare them for employment, including resume and cover letter writing, career assessments and on campus specialized job fairs.

The collaborative effort continues to yield positive results for students, which often lead to opportunities for work prior to completing their program of study. Relationships with industry keep HCC programs on the cutting edge and produce graduates prepared to meet the workforce demands of today and the future.

The Automotive Center of Excellence offers high-tech training utilizing the latest technology, equipment and specialized instruction. The program offers also an opportunity for students to become Subaru and Audi certified. In 2019 the Automotive Center of Excellence will expand its reach and offer more courses with the opening of a new automotive facility at the North Forest Campus located at 6010 Little York Drive. This expansion will further position the Automotive Center of Excellence as a leading producer of automotive technicians serving the Greater Houston region.
