HCC Acres Homes campus launches food scholarship

Sep 18, 2018

The Acres Home campus launched the first of many food distributions for enrolled students as a part of the new pilot food scholarship program.  The HCC Food Scholarship offers nutritional items that include meats, vegetables and fruit provided by the Houston Food Bank.

Participating students at the Acres Homes are given the option to participate in the program that provides up to 60 pounds of food twice a month.  The first of many distributions planned for the semester began on September 13. The Houston Food Bank distributes the supplies on campus and students have the opportunity to select items that best fit their needs. In addition to food, students will receive household supplies for their homes.

The scholarship attempts to address the lack of resources for food that many HCC students face. The program runs through the end of the fall semester.
