Houston Money Week recognizes HCC financial coaches, five students receive scholarships

At the Houston Money Week Wrap Up event, Erika Jones, the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank Public Affairs Specialist, opened up the awards portion of the program by declaring, "if you can get over 500 students to come to a workshop about budgeting, you deserve an award."

Jones' declaration, based on preliminary data, highlighted why not only HCC, but also all of its financial coaches were recognized with the Houston Money Week Rising Star Award.

As a 2017 Houston Money Week Partner, the HCC Financial Coaches hosted over 20 campus/community events and gave over 40 classroom presentations that reached over 2,000 students.

College students who attended Houston Money Week financial literacy events at HCC were asked to share what their “big takeaway” was from the program. Those who responded were entered into a drawing for a $250 scholarship. This year, 50 percent of the scholarship recipients are from HCC. Below are the winners for the Houston Money Week 2017 The BIG Takeaway College Scholarship Contest.
