HCC West Loop Campus Art Gallery to host Impressions exhibition as part of PrintHouston 2017

Jul 10, 2017

Houston Community College (HCC) West Loop Campus Art Gallery is once again participating in PrintHouston 2017, a citywide celebration of printmaking. It is one of three colleges participating in this year’s nationally-recognized event.

As part of PrintHouston 2017, the HCC gallery is hosting Impressions 2017, an exhibition featuring the work of 24 artist members of PrintMatters. This exhibition showcases a variety of print work, from traditional woodcuts and etchings to explorations with multiple processes and new technologies.

The Impressions 2017 exhibition is free and open to the public at the HCC West Loop Campus Art Gallery starting Monday, July 10. The artwork will be available for viewing through the end of August.  There is also an Impressions 2017 Artist Reception on Thursday, July 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Gallery goers will have a chance to meet with artists and talk to them about their training and techniques.

PrintMatters is the largest printmaking organization in the Gulf Coast Region. It originally began with five artists all sharing a love for print work, a desire to promote traditional and non-traditional printmaking and work, and to help promote print artists.

Every summer, galleries throughout Southeast Texas proudly join together to exhibit projects in the PrintHoustonexhibition. More than 25 galleries, museums and institutions from Houston to Galveston are scheduled to showcase some of the most noted print artists in the region, facilitate artist talks and host workshops.

The West Loop Campus Art Gallery is located at 5601 West Loop South in Houston. The Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
