HCC to provide free depression screenings on Feb. 23

Feb 17, 2017

Are you always feeling tired, without energy? Have you lost interest in activities that used to be fun? Are you losing or gaining weight?

If so, you may be suffering from depression.

Houston Community College (HCC) and the Houston Psychiatric Society are partnering to teach students and the community about the signs and symptoms of depression.

Thursday, February 23
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
West Loop Campus Auditorium
5601 West Loop South
Houston, TX 77081

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 1 in 10 Americans will suffer from depression at some point in their lives, and not everyone exhibits the same symptoms.

To combat the issue, trained psychiatrists, psychologists, and counselors will be onsite at HCC to provide private, confidential discussions with participants. Individuals will not receive a diagnosis, but will be educated on signs of depression. Clinicians will make appropriate referrals.

Screenings are free to students, faculty, staff and the public. No appointments are necessary.
