2017 Cinco de Mayo at HCC SW

The sound of traditional mariachi music filled the hallways of the Houston Community College (HCC) West Loop Campus to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

The Mariachi Los Gallitos Band donned traditional mariachi costumes serenaded students, faculty and staff as they walked to and from their classes. HCC Southwest Student Life completed the look and sound of Mexico, with the taste of the country! Passersby were treated to nachos with all the toppings.

There is an HCC connection to this talented mariachi quartet. The female violinist, Maria Alegre, is an HCC Alum! She graduated with an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts and loves to come back to the campus and perform.

The mariachi band started the celebration to the Stafford campus then proceeded to Gulfton Center and finished at the West Loop campus.
