Jul 14, 2017

The Houston Community College chapter of Psi Beta — The National Honor Society in Psychology for Community and Junior College — was awarded the 2016-17 Chapter Excellence Award for its outstanding commitment to excellence in scholarship, leadership, and community service.

To earn this award, the chapter hosted several guest speakers, organized community service projects, held workshops, took field trips, and held student review sessions. In addition, to this national recognition, the chapter also won the 2017 Student Organization of the Year at the Northwest College Student Awards ceremony in April. Faculty Advisors Terese Landry, Linda Whitney, and the Psi Beta officers are currently busy planning events for the upcoming fall semester.

Students interested in becoming a member of Psi Beta need to have an overall GPA of 3.0, completed at least one psychology course (earning at least a “B”), and completed 12 semester hours.
