Small Business Owners complete 10,000 Small Businesses Program at HCC

The sixteenth cohort of small business owners recently completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at Houston Community College (HCC).

These business leaders have spent 14 weeks - roughly 100 class hours - at HCC studying a business and management curriculum designed by Babson College and delivered by Houston Community College faculty. The curriculum covered accounting, human resources, negotiations and marketing, among other topics. The program also included one-on-one business advising, accounting workshops and advice from Goldman Sachs professionals.

Maria Rios, President and CEO of Nation Waste, Inc. and a graduate of the first cohort of the Houston program in 2011, participated in the Cohort 16 graduation as the keynote speaker. She shared that to be successful, the graduates should “stick with your growth plan, build wealth from within and dream big.”
