Trifles, Fall 2016

Students from the Visual & Performing Arts Center of Excellence at Houston Community College Stafford Campus recently produced the one-act play Trifles by Susan Glaspell. Written in 1916, Trifles is loosely based on true events and highlights pre-suffragette moirés.

This production allowed student actors and production crew from Stafford Campus’s Drama 1120 Theatre Practicum, Drama 1310 Introduction to Theatre, and Drama 1330 Basic Theatre Practice I classes to gain hands-on experience mounting a production from start to finish in the Stafford Fine Arts Center Black Box Theatre.

The classes did a four-day run of the show in mid-November. Several instructors provided expertise to make the shows come to life, including: instructor Deborah Anderson who directed the students, Anthony Reilly who designed the set and lighting and Kathy Snider who designed the costumes and props.
