HCC says NO MORE during Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Oct 1, 2016

NO MORE

Houston Community College recognizes October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is joining with the national public awareness campaign NO MORE to create visibility around issues related to sexual & intimate partner violence and stalking.

Annually, 12.7 million men and women in the U.S. are physically abused, raped or stalked by their partners.  That is approximately double the population of Houston and the surrounding area. That is 24 people every minute. These are often people we know.

The HCC Office of Institutional Equity has established a task force of faculty, staff, and students who will be working over the next few months to identify how the HCC family can continue to move FORWARD to do its part in raising awareness around these issues and ensuring a safer campus for all.

Throughout the month of October, HCC campuses are providing programs, events and activities for the HCC community to learn about intimate partner violence which includes domestic and dating violence.
