Sep 17, 2015

Houston Community College STEM students have the opportunity to apply for a 2015-2016 research fellowship in HSI STEM projects.

Research topics, list of UST and HCC faculty selected, and student application are posted on HCC STEM Research. Completed application deadline is extended to 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015. Students must contact selected HCC faculty from the posted list to discuss their interest and preparation.

The HSI STEM Research Program is funded by a five-year grant from the Department of Education in partnership with the University of St. Thomas. The selected HCC/UST faculty and students will form a cohort to do scientific research during the period of Oct. 16, 2015 to Aug. 31, 2016. The teams will present their research at a joint symposium in September 2016 and may also have a possibility of presenting at other conferences and publishing their work in scientific journals. On completion of the project, the participating students will be awarded a generous fellowship stipend. All selected HCC faculty for the 2015-2016 program are encouraged to actively recruit and assist the coordinators in selection of the students. Participating faculty and students will be required to attend an orientation Friday, Oct. 16, 2015.
