Local companies are finding talent through HCC Groundbreaker Project Internship Program

As Houston Community College continues to transform, the engineering, design, architecture firms, and construction companies involved in the HCC Groundbreaker Bond Program are building career opportunities for HCC students.

Currently, there are four students working as paid interns at Skanska, Freese & Nichols, Inc., Turner Construction, and Manhattan Construction Company.

Taylor Williams, a Computer Engineering student, is really impressing his bosses at Manhattan Construction Company in the Montrose area.

Manhattan Construction will build the new Central South Workforce Center at the HCC South Campus. HCC recently held a groundbreaking for the 65,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art workforce training facility. Taylor will facilitate the contracts for the project.

The Central South Workforce Center will house advanced manufacturing and robotics classes as well as machining, welding, HVAC, solar, CNC and electrical laboratories.
