HCC to hold groundbreaking for Acres Homes Academic Building

Houston Community College continues to make progress on its $425 million Groundbreaker Bond Program. On Tuesday, May 12, HCC officials will break ground for the Acres Homes Academic Building. This will be the sixth in a series of 14 groundbreakings that celebrate significant capital improvements of campuses across the district.

The 25,120 square foot academic facility will be equipped with an electronic resource center library, on-site advising, registration, and admission; as well as classrooms, a lounge area for students and offices for teaching faculty. The plans include 89 new parking spaces and a landscaped courtyard, which are designed to facilitate future campus expansion.

HCC’s Groundbreaker Bond Program is a capital improvement program involving 14 projects across all six colleges, adding state-of the-art instructional buildings, parking garages and significant updates to existing buildings as well as new technologies to meet student needs, especially in high-demand areas such as health sciences, as well as science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education.
