HCC takes part in annual Chinese Community Center Summer Fair

Jul 31, 2015

Houston Community College set out to further diversify its enrollment in workforce classes by interacting with potential students at the Chinese Community Center Community Fair in Southwest Houston. Workforce certificates appeal to community members having a hard time finding employment and want to be trained in another field.

HCC officials believe these types of events are essential in community outreach.

"Community events like this are really important for HCC to be out at the ground zero, where things are actually happening," HCC Community Outreach Coordinator Kristi Powers said. "We can meet people and get information on how to register for classes in their hands. And hopefully, we see them come through our doors come fall."

HCC has 12 Centers of Excellence, which offer more than 100 programs of study in a variety of careers fields.
