Aug 17, 2015

Concentrating on the history of gospel music, the Houston Community College Northeast College held a master class workshop and concert that featured choir singers from the community on Saturday, Aug. 15.

National recording artist and choir clinician Chester D.T. Baldwin put his 34 years of gospel music experience to use as he provided vocal coaching tips and taught a lesson on the history of the popular music genre.

"Gospel music has such a rich heritage," Baldwin said. "It's an American genre that was developed here."

Clinicians Vernon Jai, Rayshod Caldwell, and Temi Woodley Newton also joined Baldwin as they conducted sessions on music and dance.
