Feb 25, 2015

Students, community leaders, business owners and elected officials attended a town hall meeting to see plans for the newest campus coming to Houston Community College Southeast. The Felix Fraga STEM Facility will sit adjacent to the Felix Fraga Academic Campus.

“This was a Milby Bus Barn,” said Dr. Irene Porcarello, HCC Southeast president. “Little did you know this would be buildings and educational opportunities.”

The facility will be 36,400-square-feet and constructed with a 21st century perspective. Computer and simulation labs will support courses that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. One feature will be a telescope that will be part of an astronomy curriculum offered under the direction of renowned scientist, professor Roger Boston.

“This building will enhance our community”, said HCC Trustee Eva Loredo, District VIII. “Take advantage of this hidden gem on the East Side.”

Officials will break ground on the new facility in a few weeks.
