HCC brings Halloween fun to Fort Bend County

Oct 29, 2015

Houston Community College partnered with the Fort Bend YMCA for its Annual Fall Festival in Missouri City. HCC staff and Phi Theta Kappa student volunteers decorated the trunk of the HCC Nissan Cube with cobwebs and spiders. They handed out candy, sunglasses and pencils to over 300 trick-or-treaters.

“This is my first year here. I think it’s very important to expose my daughter to characters she has never seen,” local parent Tia Ware said. “I am having a good time; it’s a lot of fun.”

Participants showed off their costumes that ranged from storybook characters to superheroes as they paraded from trunk to trunk filling their bags. The HCC table featured a scary motion activated talking butler and was the crowd favorite. Children took candy from his bowl while others just wanted to touch him.

HCC and the YMCA provided a safe way for neighborhood children to celebrate Halloween a little early.
