At a special meeting held on Thursday, January 15, 2015, the Houston Community College Board of Trustees elected Zeph Capo as chairman.

Trustee Capo has been on the board since 2013. He represents District I and served as chair of the Board Governance and Small Business Development Committees for 2014. He is dedicated to seeking advice and guidance from industry and small business leaders to enrich HCC’s curriculum and align their needs with workforce programs.

“I am humbled by the support of my colleagues on the HCC Board,” Trustee Capo said. “I am excited to work with our entire team to make Houston Community College the best it can be. On behalf of the entire board, I thank Trustee Neeta Sane for leading us through a year of change. We are well on our way to becoming the premier institution for job training and economic growth across Houston and throughout our region.”

Other elections include Robert Glaser as vice chairman. Glaser is a native Houstonian who represents District V and held the position as secretary for 2014.

As a business owner, Trustee Glaser recognizes the importance of access to traditional college education and workforce programs.

The board also elected Dr. Adriana Tamez as secretary. Trustee Tamez represents District III and chaired the Chancellor Search Committee and Academic Committee.

Her career as an educator is dedicated to meeting the needs of students and the larger community.

“Congratulations to the incoming officers,” said Dr. Cesar Maldonado, HCC chancellor. “I would also like to thank the outgoing officers, especially Chairwoman Trustee Sane for her leadership in ensuring a systematic progress and approval of the 2012 bond projects and 2014-2015 operational budget. I am looking forward to a great year.”
