Dr. Phil Nicotera accepts position as President of HCC Coleman College for Health Sciences

Dr. Phil Nicotera has accepted the position as President of Coleman College for Health Sciences. He is scheduled to begin on May 18.

05102015_nicotera_smDr. Nicotera currently serves as the Provost at Caruth Health Education Center at St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Florida. His experience includes the position of Associate Provost and Professor in the Department of Natural Sciences at St. Petersburg College.

Dr. Nicotera has also held positions in the medical field, including Vice President Affairs with Clinical Medical Services in St. Petersburg and conducted post graduate research at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. He is a member of several healthcare boards and served as the Principle Investigator of federal grants. Dr. Nicotera holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Daeman College in Amherst, New York, a Master of Education in Student Personnel Administration from the State University College at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York and a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna in Italy.

While Provost at St. Petersburg College, Dr. Nicotera was a leader in implementing a student coaching system for at risk students, eliminating silos within the center, streamlining the admissions process, improving the nursing retention rate along with above average NCLEX pass rates, starting new allied health programs and has led the implementation of several baccalaureate of science programs.
