Feb 27, 2015

Jesus Martinez, a native of Monterrey, Mexico, received a private scholarship to participate in the International Air and Space Program (IASP) hosted by the NASA Johnson Space Center in November 2014, along with international students from other countries.

Participants in the program learned about how Mars rovers are built, thermal science and water filtration among other things. The program culminated with teams embarking on a simulated mission to Mars, putting what they learned to the test.

Along with his studies at Southeast College, Martinez is the vice president of the Pop Culture Club, vice-president for the Student Government Association, president of the United Student Council (USC) and served as the student representative on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
